Gunmen Attack INEC Office

Gunmen suspected to be Boko Harm fighters in the early hours of Sunday, March 29, launched an attack on INEC office and a centre where election results were being collated in Bauchi State.
According to Premium Times, apart from attacking the INEC office, the gunmen also launched another attack on Alkaleri Divisional Police Station.
The fighters who were said to have stormed the polling centres in four Hilux vehicles shot sporadically as residents scampered for safety.
An eye witness account said: They said they have no intention to harm any body. After the destruction they left for Bauchi (Town), because they took Bauchi road.”
Confirming the attack, Haruna Mohammed, spokesperson of the Bauchi state Police command said the gunmen who came to disrupts the smooth conducts of the elections beat a hasty retreat when  security agencies comprising of Police and the Army arrived the scene.
Boko Haram appears to be trying to carry out its threats to disrupt the on-going general elections.  The insurgents forced elections in Gombe state to be suspended yesterday, while voters in Yobe State were killed while carrying out the civic duties.
