South African President, Jacob Zuma, has arranged a meeting with Nigerians and other African immigrants resident in the country.

President Zuma, said in a statement issued by the South African presidency that he would have an audience with the nationals affected by the xenophobic attacks in the country at the Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guest House in Pretoria.
The statement also noted that the meeting was organised as part of efforts to build a lasting partnership with stakeholders in the country, so as to ensure the nationalistic attacks on foreign nationals do not recur in the country.
The meeting is also expected to include nationals from Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, there had been several clashes between locals and police in Durban, as the security agents made attempt to contain the ongoing violence against foreign nationals in Durban.

The attacks on immigrant-owned shops and homes in Durban’s township however, came three months after a similar spate of attacks on foreign-owned shops in Soweto, near Johannesburg.
